AN UNIQUE PLACE FOR LEARNING:

The Government College of Architecture and Sculpture was established in Mamallapuram in 1957. Four-Year Degree Courses are offered in this College from 2000-2001. B.e in Traditional Architecture, B.F.A in Traditional Sculpture and B.F.A in Traditional Drawing and Painting are offered. Considering the Development of this Institute a Computer Centre, a separate building for Library, a sculpture part, a mega sculptural studio for sculptors and a school for tourists enjoyment are established. and then the college main motive is to create many sculptors in future, so the principal is making so effort on it , a professor who is working in live art sculpture department nowadays youngsters too started showing their interest in ancient sculptures.

so that it is easy for him to teach them because they have interest and they easily grab what we teach. Then today they have developed more modern techniques in their college, at 1960 -1999 there were only less students to learn this and they did not show interest but from 1999 till now there is maximum numbers students are joining this year, many abroad students also studying here because of their keen interest on sculptures, and this college is known for one of the great colleges of architecture and sculpture in Tamilnadu because it is located near to Mamallapuram , and the students are often taken to see the design and architecture of the monuments so they are practically well trained and they to try to make sculptures like the old ancient sculptures.

so by doing this they can easily learn how to make old ancient techniques. So only this college has been a one of the famous college for architecture and sculpture.
